PRE-DRYING ROOM CONDITIONING SYSTEM (ECS)

The UNIMAK Pre-Drying Room Conditioning System (ECS) is an environmental control solution for sanitary ware casting areas, combining recirculated and fresh air, indirect heating, humidification, extraction and PLC-based temperature and humidity control. Designed around actual casting-room conditions, it provides a controlled atmosphere for mould drying and greenware conditioning across traditional, spagless and high-pressure casting processes.

OUR APPROACH

At a Glance

A programmable sanitary ware casting room conditioning system for controlled temperature, humidity and airflow during mould drying and greenware pre-drying.

Why?

Consistent Conditions Across the Casting Room

Two Silos, Two Plaster Options

Maintain a more uniform production environment by controlling temperature, relative humidity and air distribution throughout the conditioned area.

With two separate silos, two different plaster types can be used efficiently, providing greater flexibility for various production requirements.

Why?

More Predictable Greenware Conditioning

Two Silos, Two Plaster Options

Create repeatable atmospheric conditions for mould drying and green-piece conditioning instead of leaving critical pre-drying behavior to uncontrolled ambient changes.

With two separate silos, two different plaster types can be used efficiently, providing greater flexibility for various production requirements.

Why?

One System for Different Casting Processes

Two Silos, Two Plaster Options

Support traditional, spagless and high-pressure casting shops, giving manufacturers greater freedom to configure the conditioning concept around their actual production method.

With two separate silos, two different plaster types can be used efficiently, providing greater flexibility for various production requirements.

Why?

Climate Control That Follows Production

Why?

PID-Controlled Environmental Curves

Two Silos, Two Plaster Options

Automatic sensing, regulation and alarm management reduce continuous operator intervention while giving production teams clearer visibility of actual versus target conditions.

Recirculating Air Handling Architecture

The air handling unit combines recirculated room air with automatically regulated fresh air from 0–100%, then filters, conditions and redistributes it through the casting area. Motorized dampers and variable-speed ventilation provide active control of the air circuit.

Indirect Gas Heating System

Heating is carried out through a stainless-steel heat exchanger, keeping burner combustion gases separated from the conditioned process air. The burner is modulated according to the temperature-control demand generated by the automation system.

High-Pressure Humidification

A PLC-controlled high-pressure water system feeds atomizing nozzles distributed through the air system, adding moisture whenever measured relative humidity falls below the programmed condition. Safety flow and pressure monitoring are integrated into the humidification circuit.

Multi-Point Temperature & Humidity Feedback

Room transmitters continuously measure temperature and relative humidity, while an additional sensor monitors incoming fresh air. The PLC processes the room measurements and uses their averaged value as feedback for environmental regulation.

PID-Controlled Environmental Curves

Temperature and humidity are regulated through PLC-based PID logic controlling the burner, humidification system and air dampers. Operators can create time-based conditioning curves, assign different settings across the week and compare programmed values with the actual process curve.

Controlled Extraction & Dehumidification

PLC-controlled axial extraction fans remove humid and contaminated room air when required. Combined with adjustable air diffusers and the fresh-air/recirculation circuit, the extraction system forms an active air-management strategy rather than relying on heating alone.
